I find it odd that he has never played Oblivion. You should play Morrowind once you're done with Oblivion. ;3

Yes it is. If you'd have played Oblivion 1st, I feel you'd appreciate it better.
However, join the guilds. Guild missions are done right in Oblivion.
In Skyrim, they got screwed over, big time!!
